When a child is really interested in learning how to read...the process of learning to read becomes much easier.
I had a friend recently tell me that she was trying to teach her three year old son how to read...but he did not show any interest in learning.
She was disappointed because he could easily memorize various television commercials...but not the sounds of the alphabet.
My advice to her was to wait until he showed some interest in learning how to read...and then teach him.
Although I have taught two year old children how to read...they wanted to learn how to read. That really is half the battle. :-)
Supply your child with lots of fun picture books to help spark his interest in reading.
In time he will desire to learn how to read and then you will be ready to make it a fun and exciting journey for him.
Happy reading,
Victoria
