Reading with phonics is the best way to make sure your child learn to be a pro at reading in a short period of time and really master the art.
I had a friend ask me to see if I could figure out why her child was taking longer to learn how to read. Of course, I said yes. Almost immediately it was very apparent why her little one was taking a somewhat longer time in learning how to read.
The issue was... mom was adding far too many sounds for each letter.
For example, take the word "bat" a short vowel word... she was adding two extra sounds to the letter "b". She was pronouncing "b" as "buh". And she was pretty much doing that for most of the letters. :-(
Needless to say, that was confusing for her child.
So, please refrain from adding extra sounds to individual letters. Because it will only serve to make your child take extra time to learn how to read. And it will also make the process of learning a bit frustrating.
Learning how to reading is an enjoyable process! Keep it that way. :-)
To your success,
Victoria
