Phonics reading in public school classrooms is not what it used to be in the olden days.
While there are many talented teachers and bright students... the current system, for the most part, is not geared towards allowing students to achieve their best in the learning environment provided... or should I say...the environment that is dictated by bureaucrats that are clueless about how to teach children.
These bureaucrats meddle with teachers and refuse to allow them the right to use their creative abilities and treat their students as individuals. Instead, they dictate a list of things the teachers must do and demand daily blanket lessons... a one size fits all approach. This leads to many students being guaranteed to be "left behind."
Teachers are having to be actors and actresses, nurses, police, politician puppets, and other roles that have nothing to do with teaching.
